NOT AGAIN!

Damn, homie. The honeymoon is officially over.

I really didn’t see this one coming. After years of collab’n and bein’ Fam, the Aquemini/Purple Ribbon thang is officially over-fo’ since Killer Mike, the label’s first and best artist, has officially called out the label’s boss, one Antwan “Big Boi -aka- Daddy Fatsax -aka- Billy Ocean -aka- Sir Lucious Leftfoot” Patton.

For those unfamiliar, here’s the Cliff’s Notes version of the situation:

-Mike, a longtime Dungeon Family affiliate, was on Aquemini and released his gold-selling debut LP, Monster (led by the hit single a.d.i.d.a.s.), under the watchful eyes of Big and Dre.

-Dre left the situation, Big re-named the label Purple Ribbon and tried to some thangs with it (signed Bubba Sparxxx, Janelle Monae and Konkrete).

-Somewhere between the last two points, things started to sour between Mike and the label, and the streets were talking.

(That’s a terrible fuckin’ synopsis, but you gotta love me for tryin’… Maybe not.)

Anyway, now the nigga Mike is callin’ Big Boi out, sayin’ he’s gon’ do him like 50 did Ja.

But I should let them tell it themselves. Here are the latest three interviews with the two. Hear for yourself how the shiznit hit the fiznan.

First, Killer Mike was a guest on DJ Envy’s show out in NY, where he talked about the Purple Ribbon fallout. Very respectful, I thought.

Not long after that, Big Boi was on with “Bentley Envy” also talking about the situation, but had a much different take on it.

Now, after being portrayed as a mark-ass buster, Killa-Kill wants to get real — on wax, though.

Niggas can’t stay together for nothin’, can they? It’s gotta be somethin’ deeper here, ’cause the shit seems a lil’ petty to me. But then again, what the fuck do I know? I just hope niggas make good music. I don’t think I’ve heard Big Boi just dissin’ somebody. I wonder if he’ll participate in this rhyme war. Guess we’ll have to wait and see…
